Draper

Draper is a nonprofit research and development organization focused on advancing technology solutions. WG provided both mechanical and fire protection engineering design for Draper’s facility in St. Petersburg.

For fire protection, we designed the building’s fire suppression system, ensuring seamless integration with the existing chemical suppression system in the IT room. The fire alarm system was tied to this setup, maintaining full compliance with safety standards. The system includes oxygen-level monitoring and audible/visual alarms to alert occupants of any gas level changes.

On the mechanical side, we tailored designs for the IT room to complement the suppression system. This included sealing the room with automated dampers to contain gas during a release and incorporating an evacuation fan to safely clear the gas afterward. A detection system ensures the space is declared safe with an “all clear” signal once normal conditions are restored.

Project Location: St. Petersburg, Florida
